The Chief Executive Carrie Lam revealed in an interview with the Hong Kong Commercial Daily yesterday (April 1) that the Chief Executive will not be the chairman of the Qualification Review Committee, and that it is the principal officials of the Special Administrative Region who are suitable to serve as members of the committee.

She said that the new convener system set up by the Election Committee is a central authority and will only be used when it encounters unmanageable situations.

In addition, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Zeng Guowei, said that the term of office of the Legislative Council will continue to be four years, and the authorities will announce it as soon as possible after the completion of the division of constituencies.
