The title deeds of the row houses in Geylang 3rd Lane, Singapore will expire at the end of this month. 32 households have found permanent residences. The remaining five households are still considering options, and four of them will temporarily move to temporary residences arranged by the HDB.

The Land Authority of Singapore announced on December 3 that there are currently 37 terraced houses whose owners are still living in their houses. 32 of them have found new residences, including those of other family members, and six of them have not yet had new residences. It is completed, so it will be arranged to move to a temporary residence.

The Land Management Authority of Singapore stated that these homeowners are still considering the option of permanent residence. Four of them will move to a temporary residence arranged by the HDB, and the other will arrange their own.

There are also 149 units rented out or vacant, 16 units are used for religious activities, of which 13 units will be relocated or decided to close out of business, of which three units are still being relocated.

As a unit for renting out guest worker accommodation, the Land Management Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Manpower have contacted the employers of foreign workers living here to arrange accommodation for the employees as soon as possible. As for units used for religious activities, the Singaporean authorities suggest that they may consider moving to shared spaces with religious organizations in other locations or renting places that can be used for religious activities in commercial or industrial areas. They can also seek help from the National Standing Committee on Racial and Religious Harmony.

The Singaporean authorities have been negotiating with the residents here since 2017, assigning a staff member to each unit and providing one-to-one assistance to the owners. This assistance includes assisting homeowners to purchase HDB flats and arranging temporary accommodation for homeowners who have not been able to move into a new home.

The land in Geylang 3 Lane, Singapore, occupies an area of ​​about two hectares. Once the Singapore government takes back this land, it will be re-developed for public residential use, injecting new vitality into Kallang.
