After many accidents involving bicycles in Singapore, the Singapore Cycling Federation called on the public to avoid riding bicycles in groups.
The Cycling Federation posted on Facebook the day before yesterday (6th) that it has recently received complaints and feedback from many cyclists and government agencies, stating that a large group of people ride bicycles in groups on Thomson Road every day.
At the same time, photos and videos involving bicycle riders are also circulating online. These photos and videos show that bike riders are either dangerously riding or involved in accidents. The Federation stated that the police have received relevant reports, and the authorities have also warned that it will strengthen the monitoring and enforcement actions of bicycle riders.
The Federation urged the public and their relatives and friends to avoid participating in collective cycling activities, and said: “The situation is no longer under control, and we least want to see the existing privileges of cycling riders be withdrawn.”
According to the current regulations of the authorities, each group of bicycle riders cannot exceed five people, and a safe distance must be maintained between each group; riders must wear masks immediately after finishing their bicycle activities.
