On September 21, local time, a commemorative summit for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Affected by the new crown epidemic, many national leaders or representatives attended the meeting in the form of recorded videos.

At the meeting, Japan reiterated its willingness to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Toshimitsu Motegi called for reform of the UN Security Council. There are 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council, including the United States, Britain, Russia, China and France.

Japan formed the “Four Nations Alliance” in 2004 to strive to become a permanent member of the Council, but was opposed.
