Malaysia Hanipah suggested yesterday that the government gradually abolish multi-stream schools.

Wan Ahmad Fraser is also the youth leader of the Indigenous Unity Party. He stated on Facebook yesterday that he opposed the National Unity Minister Datuk Harima’s statement in Parliament that the government has no intention of changing the country’s existing education system.

He said in a post that Halimah statement did not reflect the country’s intention to achieve ethnic integration.

“The Tuantuan Youth firmly opposes the statement that the government will not close the multi-source schools.”

In his view, multi-stream schools cannot allow students to develop a deep sense of national identity. Many views believe that multi-stream schools violate the Federal Constitution.

After Umno’s Kinabatangan MP Bang Moda published the “Conclusion on Multi-source Primary Schools Splitting the National League” in Parliament, it caused a backlash in the Chinese community.

In the Q&A session of the House of Commons Minister, Harima, Minister of National Unity, answered the question of DAP Kulai District MP Zhang Nianqun whether he agreed with Bang Moda’s claim that multi-stream schools would undermine national unity. He questioned the latter’s question with political implications.

Halimah emphasized that instilling a national solidarity agenda will not change the existing national education system. The Ministry of Solidarity will also establish a national principles society in 6621 primary and secondary schools across the country, including Chinese primary schools and Tamil primary schools.
