Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower stated that the overall housing density of guest worker dormitories in Singapore has gradually decreased since April this year.

In addition, the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore said in response to《CNA》 inquiry that the average occupancy rate of the 43 dormitories specially built for guest workers is about 60%.

In addition, as some guest workers in essential service industries moved out of their original dormitories and some returned to their hometowns, the density of guest workers’ dormitories decreased. Currently, the Ministry of Manpower is setting up fast-built dormitories. It is estimated that by early next year, these dormitories will be able to accommodate 25,000 beds.

In Singapore, since the 15th of last month, employers can flexibly transfer employees to lower-density dormitories without the approval of the Ministry of Manpower. However, they need to update their accommodation addresses to facilitate the Singapore authorities to carry out tracking work.
