《TodayAsiaNews Sep 21》 Malaysia’s Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Armizan Mohd Ali, stated that the upcoming targeted RON95 petrol subsidy scheme will utilize multiple payment mechanisms, and will not rely solely on the physical MyKad.

He assured the public that there is no need to worry about difficulties in purchasing subsidised petrol, as in addition to MyKad, mobile apps provided by fuel companies, such as Petronas’s Setel app and Shell’s Shell App, can also be used for easy and convenient access to the subsidy.

Consumers may also make purchases at indoor and outdoor payment terminals at petrol stations.

Armizan emphasized that while eligibility for the subsidy will still be linked to the MyKad, the actual payment process will not be limited to a single method.

He made the remarks after attending the Sabah Students Convention, officiated by Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, which brought together more than 100 university students from across Sabah.

Armizan also revealed that the government has been making thorough preparations since early this year to ensure the smooth implementation of the targeted fuel subsidy scheme, which will be officially announced by the Ministry of Finance in the near future.

“We will ensure that the process runs smoothly, without burdening the people or causing long queues,” he said.
