Moderna CEO: Discussing supply of new crown vaccine with China

American pharmaceutical company Moderna, CEO Bonsell said on January 18 that the company is actively discussing with China to supply Moderna’s new crown vaccine made with messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) technology to China.

Bonsell was interviewed by Reuters while attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

What he said he really wanted to know was how the company could help the Chinese government meet its needs from a healthcare standpoint.

He did not disclose more details about the plan to supply the new crown vaccine to China, but said he hopes to visit China within this year.

China has previously not allowed the import of foreign mRNA vaccines. Germany said on December 21, 2020, that Germany had shipped the first batch of the new crown vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech to mainland China under the trade name Comirnaty. , for vaccination of German citizens in China.

It is the first batch of foreign COVID-19 vaccines to be shipped to mainland China, and it is also the first batch of mRNA vaccines to enter China.
