Hong Kong Baptist University Student Union President Arrested for 3 Offences During Anti-remission

According to Hong Kong media reports, Fang Zhongxian, the acting (acting) student council president of Hong Kong Baptist University, was arrested by the police early this morning. He was accused of “possession of offensive weapons in public places” and other three crimes, and was fighting against “returning” During the purchase of laser pens related to the case.

The Hong Kong Baptist University Student Union stated through the social platform Facebook that more than 20 police officers came to arrest Fang Zhongxian at about 7 o’clock this morning. He is currently being sent to the Sha Tin Police Station.

In addition, Hong Kong 01 reported that the Organized Crime and Triad Investigation Division of the police arrested Fang Zhongxian in the morning, accusing him of possession of offensive weapons in public places, resisting police officers who are properly performing their duties, and obstruction of justice.

The report stated that the case was related to Fang Zhongxian’s arrest in Sham Shui Po for purchasing a laser pen during the “return” period.

On the evening of August 6, 2019, Fang Zhongxian, the then president of the Baptist University Student Council, was checked by the police in Sham Shui Po. The police found 10 laser pointers from him and arrested him for possession of offensive weapons. Fang Zhongxian later kicked bao (refused to bail pending investigation) and was released.
