North Korean official media reported on October 2 that North Korean leader Gim Jongeun visited the disaster-stricken area in Gumhwa-gun, Gangwon Province, which was recently flooded by a typhoon, to inspect reconstruction work. His sister Gim Yeojeong also accompanied him. This was her first time in about two months. Make an appearance in public.

North Korea (KCNA) reported that Gim Jongeun praised the rapid reconstruction work. When referring to wind disasters and other natural disasters, he said: “This year is an unprecedentedly difficult year.”

Yonhap News Agency reported that Gumhwa County was hit by heavy rains and typhoons in August and September. Gim Jongeun’s inspection focused on the scale of the disaster in areas such as housing, farmland, transportation, power, and post. North Korean official media usually report relevant news the day after Gim Jongeun’s public event. The site inspection may have been carried out yesterday during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

According to reports,Gim Yeojeong visit this time was the first time she attended a public event two months after she appeared at the 6th National Veterans Conference at the end of July this year.

Gim Yeojeong is regarded as North Korea’s second-in-command in essence, and is the only close relative of Gim Jongeun who has a public role in politics. She had previously been tough on South Korea and became the focus of outside attention.
